Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver educational and interpretive programs at the city’s historic sites and museums.
- Assist with heritage projects, including the Oral History project and conducting historical research for educational purposes.
- Support promotional activities and collaborate with volunteers, community groups, and facility user groups.
- Supervise and train summer staff.
- Engage with visitors, address public inquiries (such as genealogy research), and provide public information.

Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Enrollment in a university or college program in history, social sciences, museum studies, education, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of interpretive experience in a museum environment; or two years of teaching experience in a school environment; or one year of experience in historical research and project writing. Ottawa Job Bank
Certifications and Knowledge:
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certifications.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
- Completion of health and safety training as required by legislation and the City of Ottawa.
- Knowledge of Ottawa’s historical facts, sites, museums, archives, and other heritage institutions.
- Understanding of current trends in museum educational programs, proper museological techniques for handling and displaying artifacts, interpretive techniques, the Ontario school curriculum, client service needs, and project management. Ottawa Job Bank
